DSS Configuration & Integration

DSS provides central configuration for users, roles, permissions, devices, storage, maps, events and business applications. This gives system administrators a structured way to manage a security estate without repeatedly configuring the same operational information in separate applications.

Current DSS releases provide increasingly granular user and resource permissions, including logical organisation of channels and time-based controls for supported permissions. For larger projects, DSS Professional supports distributed and multi-site architecture so resources from separate locations can be presented through central management while retaining local structure.

DSS is designed to integrate both Dahua and supported third-party technologies. Dahua publishes API/SDK interfaces for platform integration, while current DSS integration options include ONVIF profiles and events, SIA alarm integration, SNMP-based network monitoring and supported bridge middleware for external access-control and analytic systems.

Configuration Areas

  • Devices, channels and logical resource groups.
  • Users, roles and granular permissions.
  • Recording, storage and retention settings.
  • Maps, alarms, events and linkage rules.
  • People, access, vehicle and parking data.
  • Distributed and multi-site architecture.
  • Third-party integration through supported ONVIF, API/SDK and bridge options.

Open, Scalable Management

The configuration layer is what allows DSS to operate as a wider security management platform rather than a stand-alone VMS. Videcom can use this architecture to combine CCTV with access, ANPR, events and supported external systems while maintaining central administration and clear operator permissions.
